The University of Manchester is proud to offer awards totalling more than £2.9 million to international students, commencing their studies in September 2023. The scholarship is open to both prospective bachelor’s and master’s students.
Undergraduate awards
We're offering 7 merit-based undergraduate scholarships of £5,000 to international students domiciled in the following countries in Africa: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Botswana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Students must be taking one of the following qualifications: A-level, IB, South African Matric, NCUK International Foundation Year.
Master’s awards
We're offering 16 merit-based master’s scholarships of £15,000 to international students domiciled in the following countries in Africa: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Botswana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The University of Manchester, in its present form, was created in 2004 by the amalgamation of the Victoria University of Manchester and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). 16 awards of £15,000 will be awarded based on academic excellence and the quality of your responses in the online application form.
Scholarships will be awarded in the form of an appropriate discount against published overseas tuition fees.
Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in the following countries: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Botswana, Tanzania, , Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Undergraduate awards
You must submit an online scholarship application form by 19 May 2023.
The link to the online application form will be emailed to all relevant offer-holders.
All scholarship applicants will be notified of the University’s decision by August 2023 following release of exam results.
Master’s awards
Applicants for the African awards must have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time master’s programme at Manchester and must submit an online scholarship application form by 19 May 2023.
The application form will be emailed to all eligible offer-holders.
Awardees will be announced by mid-June 2023.
In addition, a number of other faculty, school and programme-specific scholarships are available to students from Africa.
