Applications are invited for the 2023 He Whenua Taurikura Master's and PhD scholarships. These scholarships are open to students enroling or planning to enrol at any New Zealand university or tertiary institute. The scholarships have been created to encourage and support postgraduate research on countering and preventing terrorism and violent extremism.
He Whenua Taurikura National Centre of Research Excellence was established in 2022 in response to recommendation 14 of the Royal Commission of Inquiry report into the terrorist attack on Christchurch masjidain.

He Whenua Taurikura promotes and supports research that contributes to understanding, countering and preventing violent extremism as well as research that contributes to improving social cohesion and community safety.
Master's scholarships are valued at up to $15,000 each and are normally awarded for periods of up to one year.
