AGAUR manages the call for general scholarships for university studies (GRAL), published annually by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports.

People pursuing official undergraduate and/or master's degree courses at a university in Catalonia and at the UOC.

Aim and Benefits of Undergraduate General Scholarship

The call sets three income thresholds that determine the amounts eligible.

The minimum aid is the tuition grant. Beyond this, other amounts can be added and awarded directly. It is not necessary to specifically request which grants or amounts you want.

Scholarships and amounts that can be awarded:

  • Tuition scholarship . This consists of exemption from the public tuition fee for academic services for credits enrolled for the first time, in accordance with the conditions established in the call for applications.

  • Variable amount . It can be:
    • Minimum: €60.
    • Variable: calculated based on family income, the average grade of the studies you are pursuing, and the total budget allocated by the Ministry for scholarships.
  • Fixed amounts
    • For rent: €1,700.
    • Per residence: €2,700.
    • For excellence in academic performance: between €50 and €125.
  • Additional amount  for students with family residence in the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta, or Melilla.


Requirements for Undergraduate General Scholarship Qualification

General requirements

  • Be Spanish or hold the nationality of a member state of the European Union.

In the case of European Union citizens or their family members, they will be required to be permanent residents or to prove that they are self-employed or employed in Spain. These requirements will not be required to obtain the tuition grant.

If you are not a citizen of the European Union, you must have a residence permit in Spain, i.e., a NIE/TIE (Foreigner Identification Card). A student permit is not valid. This requirement must be met by December 31, 2024.

Exceptionally, in the case of students with refugee status or subsidiary protection, a legal residence permit may be obtained until June 30, 2025.

  • Not having, at the time of applying for the scholarship, a qualification of a level equal to or higher than the level of the studies for which the scholarship is being requested.

  • Meet the remaining academic and financial requirements specified in the call.

Academic requirements 

- First-year students (all branches of knowledge) to qualify for the tuition grant and other amounts:

  • Be enrolled in the number of credits established in the call.
  • Have a university entrance grade (baccalaureate and PAU (according to the formula 0.6 NMB + 0.4 QFG) or an entrance grade for the CFGS or another entrance exam with a minimum of 5 points.

- Second-year students and beyond to qualify for the tuition grant and other amounts:

  • Be enrolled in the number of credits established in the call.
  • Exceed the percentage of credits corresponding to the branch of knowledge, which are the following:

Architecture and Engineering Branch: 65%.
Science Branch: 65%.
Arts and Humanities Branch: 90%.
Social and Legal Sciences Branch: 90%.
Health Sciences Branch: 80%.

- In all cases, the restrictions established in the call for applications for non-compliance with other requirements (general and/or financial) must be taken into account. These restrictions also apply to partial enrollment, completely distance learning, supplementary training, final degree projects, and the university entrance course for persons over 25 years of age.
