2026 China Scholarship Council (CSC) - ECU PhD Scholarship

This scholarship is open to prospective students who are citizens of the People's Republic of China and meet the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) entry requirements at Edith Cowan University (ECU). The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and ECU have established the CSC-ECU Joint Funding Program to provide research opportunities to high quality research students from the People’s Republic of China.

Edith Cowan University (ECU) PhD Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Edith Cowan University (ECU) PhD Scholarship

Successful applicants who are offered a place in the ECU’s PhD program and are provided with:

• ECU tuition fee offset (for up to 48 months) that covers your PhD tuition fees along with a living stipend top up (up to 42 months) to the current standard ECU RTP stipend rate.
• CSC will offer a scholarship package that includes a living allowance (AUD $22,800 per year), return airfare, single overseas student health insurance and reimbursement of the initial visa application fee.

Requirements for Edith Cowan University (ECU) PhD Scholarship Qualification

Candidates receiving a CSC-ECU Scholarship must:

• meet CSC selection criteria and be successful in receiving CSC scholarship funding;
• meet all University admission and English proficiency requirements;
• not be living or working outside the People’s Republic of China at the time of application; and
• not hold a research doctorate degree or equivalent.

How to Apply

Step 1: Identify a Research Supervisor or Project

• Explore research projects that match your interests by visiting Postgraduate Research Project Opportunities.
• Or contact a nominated supervisor to discuss potential supervision and your research proposal.

Step 2: Obtain Support from School/Supervisor

• Secure support from the relevant School or supervisor via email.
• Forward this support email to Graduate Research Services (GRS). GRS will then issue an invitation letter on behalf of the ECU Dean of Graduate Research.

Note: You do not need to apply for admission at this stage. If you do, attach the invitation letter and state you are applying for a CSC scholarship.

Step 3: Apply for the CSC Scholarship

• Submit your CSC scholarship application (usually in March). More details at CSC website
• If successful, apply for admission to ECU, including your CSC support letter and invitation letter.

Please note: CSC scholarship approval does not guarantee admission, which is competitive and depends on supervision availability and research alignment.
