The Maxwell King Scholarship (MKS) is named after Professor Maxwell King, who has made an outstanding contribution to graduate research at Monash University, including eight years as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Research Training). This prestigious scholarship is available to help support a student undertaking a PhD with living costs whilst studying at a Monash campus in Australia.

Aim and Benefits of Monash University PhD Scholarship

The MKS provides:

• a living allowance (stipend);
• a research allowance; and
• a relocation allowance, if eligible.

Requirements for Monash University PhD Scholarship Qualification

You must be one of the following:

• An Australian citizen
• A New Zealand citizen
• Australian permanent resident
• Australian humanitarian visa holder
• An International student

You must meet the following criteria:

• have submitted a scholarship application in the current year;
• meet Monash's competitive scholarship selection process requirements; and
• meet Monash English language proficiency requirements.

This scholarship is also available to students undertaking Joint Research Awards when Monash University is the home institution.

• Monash scholarships are highly competitive and are awarded based on academic excellence, research outputs and prior research experience.

How to Apply

• Graduate research scholarships applications are submitted at the same time as your course application, unless you are already enrolled.  Whether you are a new applicant or a current student, the myApp Portal is used for both course admission and scholarship applications.  You do not need to select specific scholarships, eligible applicants are automatically considered for all available graduate research scholarships.
