2026 Monash University Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend

Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships, funded by the Australian Government, support both domestic and international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees at Australian universities. As part of this program, a RTP Stipend (living allowance) is available to help support students with living costs whilst studying at a Monash Australia campus.

Aim and Benefits of Monash University Postgraduate Scholarship

The RTP Stipend provides:

• a living allowance (stipend), and
• a relocation allowance, if eligible.

There are a number of tuition scholarships available for international students that can be packaged with this stipend.

Domestic students will automatically be provided with a RTP Fees Offset.

Requirements for Monash University Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

You must be one of the following:

• An Australian citizen
• A New Zealand citizen
• Australian permanent resident
• Australian humanitarian visa holder
• An International student

You must meet the following criteria:

• meet Monash's competitive scholarship selection process requirements; and
• meet Monash English language proficiency requirements.

This scholarship is also available to students undertaking Joint Research Awards when Monash University is the home institution.

How to Apply

• Graduate research scholarships applications are submitted at the same time as your course application, unless you are already enrolled.  Whether you are a new applicant or a current student, the myApp Portal is used for both course admission and scholarship applications.  You do not need to select specific scholarships, eligible applicants are automatically considered for all available graduate research scholarships.
