2026 RWTH Erasmus Worldwide / ICM Scholarship

Erasmus+ Worldwide (also known as International Credit Mobility) is a funding strand within the Erasmus+ program that supports mobility projects between EU institutions and partner countries outside the European Union. The program enables both student and staff exchanges. However, the types of eligible mobility – whether incoming or outgoing – and the education levels involved (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or staff) vary by partner country. These specifics are determined by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Postgraduate Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Postgraduate Scholarship

• Incoming and outgoing students, as well as incoming staff, may receive individual support and a travel grant as part of their Erasmus+ funding.
• The travel grant is calculated based on the distance between your home and host institution, using the official EU Distance Calculator. Here you can find details on current funding rates.
• At RWTH, financial support for travel and subsistence is provided in accordance with the German State Travel Expenses Act (Landesreisekostengesetz) and the Foreign Expenses Reimbursement Ordinance (Auslandskostenerstattungsverordnung).
• Please note: In the event of a cancellation, any costs incurred cannot be reimbursed with Erasmus+ funds.

Erasmus+ offers top-up grants to support students and recent graduates with fewer opportunities.

Eligible students may receive:

• An additional €250 per month for long-term mobilities
• For blended short-term mobilities:
  • €100 for stays of up to 14 days
  • €150 for stays of 15 days or more

Requirements for Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

The following groups are eligible for top-up funding:

• First-generation university students
• Students who are employed (certain conditions apply)
• Students undertaking mobility with their child(ren)
• Students with a chronic illness or a recognized degree of disability (GdB) of 20 or higher
