The £5,000 per year EGA IfWH BAME PhD Scholarship supports UK-domiciled students from under-represented Black and Mixed ethnic backgrounds. One award is available per academic year.

Aim and Benefits of UCL PhD Scholarship

• £5,000

Requirements for UCL PhD Scholarship Qualification

This scholarship is intended to attract BAME students in the following groups, as they are currently under-represented in the IfWH student body:

• Black or Black British Caribbean.
• Black or Black British African.
• Mixed White and Black Caribbean.
• Mixed White and Black African.

And also must: 

• Be UK domiciled with Home fee status.
• Have an offer of admission to an IfWH programme of study in 2026/2027.
• Be in financial need as assessed by UCL (an assessed household income of less than £42,875).

Interview date, Process and Venue for UCL PhD Scholarship

• UCL will take into account your educational, personal and financial circumstances, which you will need to show in your application/personal statement.
• Assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.
