2026 University of Sydney Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Sleep and Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain Conditions

This Scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to a PhD student who is undertaking research in how sleep influences pain, function, and recovery in people living with chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain conditions such as osteoarthritis and low back pain. This Scholarship is funded by Department of Health and Aged Care (Federal).

Research Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Research Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship

• The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance of $42,754 per annum for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Requirements for Research Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

You must:

• be willing to apply for admission, have an offer of admission or being currently enrolled to study full-time in a PhD student within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney
• conduct research in how sleep influences pain, function, and recovery in people living with chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain conditions such as osteoarthritis and low back pain.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Research Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship

• The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the basis of:
  • academic merit,
  • cover letter detailing interest in subject area, and
  • contact details of two academic referees.
• Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
• The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the nomination of the relevant research supervisor(s), or their nominated delegate(s).
