BI Presidential Scholarship
Aim and Benefits of BI Presidential Scholarship
The scholarship benefits is as follows:
- Norwegian and International Applicants residing in Norway: Scholarships cover full tuition fees for each semester, up to two years, provided academic progression requirements are met.
- Sivøk Applicants: Scholarships cover full tuition fees for each semester, up to two years, provided academic progression requirements are met.
- International Applicants: Scholarships cover full tuition fees and include a stipend each semester, for up to two years, provided academic progression requirements are met. The stipend is intended to assist with living expenses, covering approximately 70% of costs.
Requirements for BI Presidential Scholarship Qualification
Applicants are to ensure they meet the following criteria:
- Candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of ‘A’ on the ECTS scale or the equivalent top-level grade on international grade scales to be considered.
- Students in the 3rd year of the Sivøk programme are eligible to apply.
- Candidates with Norwegian citizenship or international citizenship from EU/EEA/Switzerland.
- Citizens of countries from outside the EU/EEA who are residents of Norway may be eligible, depending on their residency status. Please see the list on this webpage to determine eligibility. If you fall in this category, include residency documentation with your scholarship application letter.
- International applicants (all citizenships) who moved to Norway for their bachelor studies and will complete a bachelor’s degree in Norway (full 180 ECTS) in the spring of the year of application. International applicants with citizenship from outside the EU/EEA must not have a break in studies between the completion of their bachelor’s degree and the commencement of their master’s degree.
- Candidates admitted to a Master of Science degree programme at campus Oslo or campus Bergen, except the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing.
Note: International applicants with citizenship from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland who are not residents of Norway are not eligible for this scholarship.
Interview date, Process and Venue for BI Presidential Scholarship
The selection criteria include the following:
- Only applicants admitted to a Master of Science program who have applied as instructed will be considered.
- Scholarship applications are reviewed only if the admission offer has been accepted.
- BI aims to ensure scholarship distribution across various MSc programs.
- Scholarships may be awarded based on BI’s institutional priorities, including specific master’s programs, diversity and gender balance, or partnerships with selected schools.
- Candidates are assessed using the ECTS scale, with grades from international bachelor’s degrees converted accordingly.
- Other criteria include academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular activities, and notable personal accomplishments.
- International applicants for the BI Presidential Scholarship are also eligible for consideration for the MSc International Scholarship.
Application Deadline

- Submit your scholarship application simultaneously with your admission application on the online portal.
- Write a one-page scholarship application letter detailing why you should be considered, focusing on academic merit rather than financial need.
- Upload your scholarship letter to the ‘Scholarship’ section of your online admission application.
- Ensure that all required documents for your Master of Science program admission are included. The scholarship application will only be reviewed if a complete admission application is submitted and the admission offer is accepted.
- International Applicants: You will automatically be considered for the MSc International Scholarship when applying for the BI Presidential Scholarship—no additional letter is required.
