Brunel University of London are proud to continue the Asylum Seeker Fee Waiver for academic year 2026/27. The fee waiver offers a substantial reduction in tuition fee to support Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research applicants who are still seeking asylum.

Aim and Benefits of Brunel University Postgraduate Scholarship

• The overseas tuition fee will be reduced to match the “home” tuition fee rate for your chosen course, please visit our website for the current fees.

Requirements for Brunel University Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

• Must hold an offer of a place on a full time or part time Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught or Postgraduate Research course starting in 2026/27, this includes distance learning courses.
• Must have an ongoing UK asylum application and provide their Application Registration Card (ARC) card, or other official evidence as part of their application or fee status assessment.
• Must be classed as an Overseas fee-paying student based on the UK government regulations. Applicants who are unsure of their fee status should note Brunel uses the information they have provided in their application form to assess fee status against regulations set by the UK government. For information on these regulations please visit the independent organisation UKCisa’s website.
• Offer must be ‘Unconditional Firm’ (UF) by the registration date (i.e. applicant must have met all offer conditions and firmly accepted the place before they register).
• Must commence the course in the upcoming academic year (applicants for deferred entry will not be considered for the fee waiver and will be considered in the year they start their course and not in the year of their course application).
• Applicants entering an Undergraduate course at FHEQ Level 5 (year 2) or FHEQ Level 6 (year 3) in 2026/27 will be considered for the fee waiver.

Those not eligible for this Scholarship

• Applicants classed as Home for fees purposes based on the UK government regulations, or those with an unresolved fee status.
• Applicants entering a course with the Brunel Language Centre (BLC).
• Applicants entering the MBBS programme.
• Applicants entering an online learning course.
• Applicants on all associate courses or modules, undertaking short courses or undertaking a dissertation only module (march start).
• Students currently enrolled on a course at Brunel University of London or Brunel Pathway College.
• Students who become eligible for home fees or your immigration permission changes before you register for the course. For example, if a student is awarded the fee waiver and is granted refugee status or humanitarian protection before registration, they will no longer be eligible to receive the fee waiver. Please contact the Admissions Team at [email protected] so that a new fee status assessment can be carried out. Students will also need to notify the Scholarship Team by emailing [email protected].
• Students whose immigration status changes during their studies at Brunel and become eligible for home fees are no longer eligible for the fee waiver. Students should contact the Scholarship Team and Student Hub immediately if this is the case.

How to Apply

• No separate application is required. All students will be considered for the award automatically based on the information supplied in their course application and a completed fee status assessment.
