Cardiff University 2022 International Professor Fellowship Positions in Adult Nursing, UK

The School of Healthcare Sciences at Cardiff University is a dynamic and forward-looking School, and is seeking outstanding applicants for a Professorial position – collaborative leaders with a strong research record of accomplishment in fields which complement the School’s research themes.

The School is a leading UK provider of nursing, midwifery and allied health professional education with a wide portfolio of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for UK and international students.  Research in the School is internationally recognised for its quality, and is directed at informing improvements in patient outcomes and experiences and in the organisation of services. Uniquely, we are home to the WHO Collaborating Centre for Midwifery Development, the Wales Centre for Evidence-Based Care, which is a Joanna Briggs centre of excellence and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Chair of Nursing Research.

The School has a growing  multi professional research portfolio organised across 3 key themes in:

  • Optimising well-being and the management of long-term conditions
  • Optimising service delivery and organisation
  • Optimising health through activity, lifestyles and technology

The School’s recent REF submission included significant increases in the number of staff returned, external research income and PhD completions since REF2014. It has a well-established programme of research support and events. Further developing research capacity and capability remains a key focus for the School and this is especially important for Adult Nursing.

The position will suit candidates with an outstanding record of attracting externally funded research, excellent international publications, and research impact who are able to make a major contribution to academic and societal issues in patient care.

Candidates will demonstrate high-level leadership and motivation skills with an inclusive and engaging team building ethos and focus, with the ability to positively communicate and influence a diverse stakeholder group. You will have experience of developing and delivering research support programmes as well as experience of the development and implementation of strategy and policy with an understanding of research and academic governance.
Developing research capacity and capability in adult nursing and the broader research portfolio will be a key part of the role. Target setting, leadership, line management and close working with the School’s Professional Heads and Directors, especially those in nursing, will also be important.
