Cranfield University ASEAN-UK Women in STEM Scholarships 2026

Cranfield University is proud to join the Women in STEM Scholarship initiative by offering six fully funded scholarships for female students from selected countries in East Asia. We are looking for women with a background in STEM, who can demonstrate their need for financial support and who wish to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in STEM.

Cranfield University Postgraduate Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Cranfield University Postgraduate Scholarship

• A full scholarship which includes tuition fees, stipend, travel costs, visa and health coverage fees. The stipend for 2026-2027 will be £1,731 per month (although the cost of accommodation will be deducted if staying on campus).

Requirements for Cranfield University Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

Applicants are required to:

• be a women, as defined under UK legislation.
• be a permanent resident of and hold a valid passport (or recognised international travel document from) Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Timor-Leste, and be able to obtain a UK visa using the documents they hold. 
• agree to return your country of citizenship or residence for a minimum of two years after your scholarship ends. 
• meet Cranfield University's entry requirements of an eligible full-time course for the academic year from Sept/Oct 2026 – 2027. Please see course page for details.
• have obtained your undergraduate results by 13 July 2026 at the latest.
• demonstrate a case for financial support. Applicants must not be able to privately fund their UK studies and must not be in receipt of financial support from any other source that duplicates the core benefits of the scholarship.  Private savings that can top up the scholarship is permitted.
• be active in the STEM field with work experience or with a proven interest in the proposed subject area.
• be willing to contribute to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement in their home country after graduating from the Master’s course in the UK.
• agree to maintain contact with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the UK, and engage with both Cranfield and Alumni UK activities during and after their Master’s course in the UK.
• demonstrate a plan and a passion to engage other women and girls in STEM from their home country.
• agree to their personal data being shared with the British Council for assessment and purposes of promotional activity, as a condition of applying for the scholarship.

Please note, preference will be given to candidates who have not had any significant international exposure or previously studied in the UK. This includes distance learning at UK universities or study at UK branch campuses abroad. We define significant experience as a period of study over one month, or enrolment on or completion of an international degree course. Short term visits such as study tours or conferences are permitted.

You are not eligible for a British Council Scholarship for Women in STEM if you:

• hold dual British citizenship.
• are an employee, a former employee, or relative (*) of an employee of His Majesty’s Government (including British Embassies/High Commissions; the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Department for International Trade; the Ministry of Defence; and the Home Office).
• are an employee, a former employee, or relative (*) of an employee of the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM –Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Timor-Leste.

(*): relatives are defined as parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or stepchildren, spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner (where the couple have been in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years).

• First, confirm that your chosen course is eligible for the scholarship and you meet the eligibility criteria above.
• Submit your application to this scholarship using the link below. Please note you cannot save the form once you begin. Partially complete applications will not be saved and will not be submitted. 
• The attached Word document has the same questions as the application form. Use this to prepare and save your answers before starting your application. Once you are happy with your answers, you will need to submit these on the online application form.
