It offers the opportunity to continue their academic and professional careers in innovation-driving STEM fields in Germany with a Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and engineering.

About German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

DAAD scholarship in Germany is a private, federally funded and state-funded, self governing national agency of the institutions of higher education in Germany, representing 365 German higher education institutions (100 universities and technical universities, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 52 colleges of music and art) [2003]. Aim and Benefits of DAAD STEM Study Scholarships

  • Monthly scholarship payments of 934 euros

  • Additional benefits may include:
    • Monthly rent subsidy
    • Monthly allowance for accompanying family members
    • Subsidy for justified additional costs due to a disability or chronic illness

    • Language improvement benefits such as course fees for online language courses, German language courses in Germany, allowance for a personally chosen German language course, and reimbursement of TestDaF or DSH test fees.

Requirements for DAAD STEM Study Scholarships Qualification

  • High-achieving students from developing and emerging countries who have completed their studies with a first degree recognised in Germany (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) by the application deadline.
  • Individuals with a Master’s degree are not eligible to apply.

Interview date, Process and Venue for DAAD STEM Study Scholarships

  • Academic qualification: Academic achievements, course of studies, knowledge of the language(s) of instruction or working language(s), and relevant internships or work experience.
  • Quality of the study project: Quality and preparation of the study project and integration into the academic career path.
  • Potential of the applicant: Motivation, prospects for further academic, professional, and personal development, and extracurricular commitment.
  • Consideration of equal opportunity aspects such as disability, chronic or prolonged illness, raising children, caring for relatives, refugee background, or extensive employment required to finance studies.
  • A personal (digital) interview with an independent selection committee of university teachers.

Documents Required for Application

The application for the DAAD STEM Scholarships 2025 is conducted online through the DAAD portal and here’s a step-by-step guide to help you prepare your application:

  1. Online application form
  2. Curriculum vitae (CV): Submit a concise CV (max. 3 pages) in tabular format.
  3. Letter of motivation: A 1-3 page document detailing your academic and personal reasons for pursuing the Master’s program in Germany.
  4. University admission letter: If you haven’t received an admission letter by the time of application, it must be submitted before the scholarship starts.
  5. Master’s program form: Complete the form detailing up to five preferred Master’s programs.
  6. Academic transcripts: Upload transcripts of records and degree certificates.
  7. Language certificate: Proof of language proficiency (B1 for German or equivalent for English).
  8. Letter of recommendation: A recent letter from a university professor.
  9. Passport/ID documents: Scan of passport or national ID card.
  10. Additional documents: Any relevant certificates, such as proof of employment or extracurricular activities.

All documents must be uploaded to the DAAD portal. Ensure translations are provided if documents are in languages other than English or German.
