EU 2021-2022 Don Bosco Volunteering Program in Austria

“Salesianum” in Vienna is a hostel for students with a project for refugees, a youth centre, the office of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) Austria and a parish. There are circa 8 staff members and 50 local volunteers and there is a community with 11 Salesians. Activities for volunteers are assistance in the educational programs, collaboration in environmental projects of SYM, support in administrative tasks and building services, support in regular youth pastoral activities, projects and public relations. Don Bosco Volunteers offers many volunteering opportunities. The target group are especially kids and youngsters. Volunteers of the European Solidarity Corps contribute their youthful dynamics and they are positively present and close to kids and youngsters. Their presence opens a space for mutual learning processes and underlines the European idea.

Aim and Benefits of Don Bosco Volunteering Program

  • The host organisation offers at least a double room (shared with another volunteer) with shower and bathroom.
  • The host organisations organise food in different ways (canteen, cook by yourself, etc.).
  • The host organisation gives to the volunteers a mobility ticket and/or a bicycle.

Requirements for Don Bosco Volunteering Program Qualification

  • A volunteer should be motivated
  • A volunteer should be able to work with kids and youngsters
  • A volunteer should be creative, communicative, willing to learn, active and reliable.
