European Master Of Science in Skin Health and Care (EMOTION) is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Program funded by the European Commission that educates the future generation of translational scientists in the skin health & care sector. EMOTION is a 2-year English-taught program that involves the Università del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, ITALY), the Universitad Miguel Hernández (Elche, SPAIN) and the Université de Namur (Namur, BELGIUM) and delivers a double degree. EMOTION is a unique program that covers the entire spectrum of activities of R&D, from ideation to marketing. The consortium, alongside academics, involves several industrial partners and many lectures are held by guest lecturers that work in the field.

Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship
Aim and Benefits of Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship
- Students with Erasmus+ Scholarship receive a scholarship of up to 1.400 euros per month for maximum 24 months.
- They do not have to pay participation costs. Their health insurance, university registration and student services are covered. Scholarship holders are required to cover the cost of mobility (e.g. travel, visa, residence permit fees) according to the obligatory EMOTION mobility path from their monthly scholarships.
- There are no additional payments for travel and installation.
Requirements for Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship Qualification
- A Bachelor degree (or higher degree) from a recognized academic higher education Institution* (equivalent to a European undergraduate degree of 180 ECTS) in a field related to the Programme area.
- A minimum grade of degree (or GPA) is not required in order to apply, but it will be taken into account by the Joint Admission Board. Applications from candidates that have not obtained a first degree are not considered eligible and are not evaluated. If you cannot obtain your first degree by the end of the application period, please consider applying in the next rounds of applications.
- A background in both biology and chemistry – based on your academic record, is required for being considered eligible. Here you can find a list of degrees that are admitted (degree list).
- This list is not comprehensive and other similar degrees might be judged by the Joint Admission board as equivalent. On the other hand, degrees far from the ones listed are not considered eligible for the Programme.
- You are required to provide documentation of a finalised first degree by the deadline of application. A transcript with your final grade and stating that you finalised the degree is accepted. A final degree diploma must be presented by the time of enrolment.
*An academic higher education Istitution is considered recognized based on the following official sources: ardi.cimea and whed.net
Interview date, Process and Venue for Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship
Applications are first evaluated for eligibility by the UPO project manager and the administrative staff for their eligibility.
Eligible applications are then submitted to the Joint Admission Board (JAB), which creates an absolute ranking list of candidates. JAB will be made of at least one member of each of the three institutions.
The items for evaluation are:
- academic record (0-4 points; the GPA of the first degree will be used and for those that are not available arithmetic conversions will apply);
- merit (0-4 points: based on the CV, this will include scientific background, awards, publications, second degree, extracurricular activities, relevance to the Master);
- motivation letter (0-3 points).
- referee’s evaluation (0-1 points).
The applicants will be ranked, and the top candidates will be invited for an interview by video-conference.
Your interview:
- max 7′:present a research paper that will be provided with the invitation to the interview
- max 10′: explain your motivation for choosing EMOTION and the non-clinical or clinical
pathway and what you expect from the Master’s programme
- max 5′: discussion/questions
Assessment of the interview will range from 0 to 8 points:
Quality of the presentation of the assignment: 3 points
Motivation and expectations: 3 points
Presentation skills and compliance with the guidelines (e.g. time-keeping): 2 points
