Discover ReSound, an innovative Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Programme that reimagines the role of sound in culture, society, and the creative industries. ReSound brings together three leading institutions within the FilmEU European University alliance: the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Ireland, and Universidade Lusófona (UL) in Portugal and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA). Through Erasmus+ mobility, students experience a truly European education, studying across Northern, Western, and Southern Europe while gaining access to an extensive network of trans-European partners. This diversity broadens perspectives, fosters cross-cultural collaboration, and opens doors to international opportunities.

ReSound is shaped by the needs of today’s creative industries and the emerging paradigms of tomorrow. Our programme prepares specialists in sound design, production, composition and execution across media arts—including film, television, gaming, immersive media, and virtual environments. Graduates leave not only as industry-ready professionals but as advocates for the thoughtful integration of sound in society, reshaping how we “hear” the world around us.

Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship

• Candidates are eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, awarded on the basis of excellence. 
• Students who are granted an Erasmus+ scholarship pay no tuition fees and receive a scholarship of 1,400 EUR per month. These Erasmus+ scholarships contribute to travel, visa and a living allowance. 
• Candidates eligible for scholarships are students who have obtained a primary higher-education degree or can demonstrate a recognised equivalent according to national legislation and practices of the degree awarding country. 
• Students who have already obtained an EMJM scholarship for an Erasmus Mundus Master Course / Joint Doctorate scholarship are not eligible to apply for an additional scholarship under the EMJM action. 
• Erasmus+ scholarship holders cannot benefit from another EU-funded scholarship scheme to follow the same EMJM course. This holds for the entire period of the course. 
• Students with a double nationality must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application. 

Requirements for Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship Qualification

ReSound is open to both European and non-European students who hold a bachelor’s degree in sound, music, film, or media studies. Applicants with degrees in other fields may also be considered if they possess relevant prior experience in areas such as sound, music, film, or media studies.

The following requirements must be fulfilled by all applicants: 

• Application Form (online and complying with the imposed deadlines, no applications sent by regular mail will be accepted).
  Applications are open and will close on January 20, 2026, at 17:00 CET.

• Copy of passport/identification card (This should be an official identification document including a photograph and personal data like first name, surname and date and place of birth. This data should be described in the English language -like in passports. We recommend that the expiration date covers the duration of the entire master plus six months).
• Recent headshot photograph.
• Stamped university documentation for previous degree(s) and its transcripts of record. Bachelor or Master with minimum or European Qualifications Framework level 6 or equivalent – (If the language of the degree or transcript is in another language than English, a certified translation must be supplied). 
• As part of the application form, a curriculum vitae of professional qualifications, experience, pieces of work, jobs, tasks, professional skills in sound, music and/or media industries. 
• Two Letters of Recommendation, at least one must be academic. These should not follow a template. The only requirement is that the contact details of the person providing the reference must be clearly typed and, if possible, should contain a business email address and a telephone number. 
• Letter of motivation that expresses interest in studying at ReSound (max 1000 characters) that expresses 1) what you hope to get out of the programme and 2) an expression of why a career in sound is meaningful to you personally and to society. Make this personal, and do not use AI / Large Language Models.   
• Imagine and describe (500 characters) a final thesis project you’d like to undertake. Please describe the project, your motivations, and anticipated results.
• Portfolio of previous sound/media related work. Please include a short reflective paragraph on each piece explicitly stating your role in the work. Please supply no more than 3 examples. You can supply a single hyperlink to a portfolio website or a compilation audio or video file. The team can realistically listen/watch 10-15 minutes of material per application, so please select the best work.
• Proof of proficiency in the English language – Please see the language requirements below.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship

All eligible applicants will be assessed by members of the consortium, taking into account the following elements: 

• The applicant’s academic quality, judged primarily from the results of prior university studies. 
• The applicant’s motivation and justification of the application in relation to prior studies, work experience (if applicable) and future career plans towards the aims of ReSound, judged from the CV in combination with the letter of motivation, expectations and portfolio. 
• The applicant’s English language skills, judged from the certificate provided and from the interview. 
• Applicants with the highest scores resulting from the application package, which includes the Portfolio, will be called for an online Interview on a date to be settled by the selection committee. 

Applicants that do not qualify for the interview will be informed as soon as possible.
