EU4 Independent Media 2023 Support Production of investigative journalism in Eastern partner countries

The EU-funded project EU4 Independent Media announces an investigative journalism support programme aiming to facilitate the production of impactful and compelling investigations on topics of high public interest.

The programme is supported by the European Union and targets Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The topics of investigations that will be supported under this call include, but are not limited to:

  • Corruption and financial crime, organised crime;
  • Public safety and security, democracy and human rights;
  • Environment and climate change, healthcare.

Requirements for EU4 Independent Media Support Production of investigative journalism Qualification

Eligible beneficiaries are:

  • Legally registered news organisations catering for audiences in all six Eastern partner countries, including organisations operating in exile;
  • Journalist and press freedom non-profit organisations;
  • Independent content production companies;
  • Journalists/content production teams acting on behalf of any of the above.

Eligible beneficiaries must:

  • Have been in operation for not fewer than 3 (three) years prior to the submission of the proposal;
  • Have produced not fewer than 3 (three) investigations;
  • Have a Code of Ethics/editorial guidelines/membership in journalist organisations with a joint Code of Ethics or a track record of upholding journalism standards or participating in related initiatives;
  • Not allow duplication with other EU-funded projects.

Eligibe topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Corruption and financial crime;
  • Organised crime;
  • Public safety and security;
  • Democracy and human rights;
  • Environment and climate change;
  • Healthcare.
