European University Institute (EUI) 2021-2022 Policy Leaders Fellowship for Young Policy Professionals

The School of Transnational Governance (STG) at the European University Institute (EUI) is offering fellowships to early- and mid- career policy professionals for the academic year 2021-2022. The STG Policy Leader Fellowship is a global programme at the vibrant campus of an international institution.

About European University Institute (EUI)

The EUI was born out of an atmosphere of cooperation, with notable advocacy for a European institute at the Hague Conference in 1948 and the European Cultural Conference the following year. Other priorities persisted however until the 1955 Messina Conference; a series of constructive talks responding to the widening of Europe. With all six members of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) present, the German Secretary of State Walter Hallstein took the opportunity to call for a training centre for nuclear sciences. Aim and Benefits of EUI Policy Leaders Fellowship

The fellowships are fully-funded with a grant of € 2,500 per month.  Fellows must live in the area of Florence for the duration of their fellowship. A family allowance is available where appropriate.


Requirements for EUI Policy Leaders Fellowship Qualification

Applicants should be:

  • Early- or mid-career professionals (e.g. in politics, civil service, media and non-governmental organisations), able to demonstrate both professional experience and potential for future excellence in the policy sphere.
  • Genuinely engaged individuals involved in policy issues, especially those related to transnational governance.
  • Self-motivated, able to present a clear work plan for the fellowship to show what the applicant will achieve and how this work will have a ‘multiplier’ impact after the fellowship.
  • Curious and engaged contributors. Fellows are expected to be part of the EUI community on a daily basis and to participate in peer discussions on topics which may be beyond their expertise.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
