Flinders University 2022 ARC Future Fellowship PhD Scholarship

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a PhD scholarship connected to an ARC Future Fellowship project entitled: ‘Strategic Friendship: Anglo-German Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region’. The candidate will undertake research into imperial relations in Asia, Australasia or the Pacific region. Specifically, candidates should be interested in conducting research in a field broadly related to one or more of the following:

-The history of Anglo-German relations in Asia, Australasia or the Pacific region

-The effects of German imperialism on the peoples, states and environments of Asia, Australasia or the Pacific

-Relationships between the Germans and colonised peoples in Asia, Australasia or the Pacific

-The experiences of German colonists in British colonies or British colonists in German colonies

-The legacies of British and German imperialism in Asia, Australasia or the Pacific

Candidates who have the capability to research in a relevant Asian, European or Pacific language will be preferred.

Aim and Benefits of ARC Future Fellowship PhD Scholarship

The scholarship includes:

•a stipend valued at $30 000 per annum tax free

•a Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship to cover tuition fees for AustralianCitizens, NZ Citizens and Permanent Residents.


Requirements for ARC Future Fellowship PhD Scholarship Qualification

To be eligible for the award of this scholarship a student must:

•Be an Australian citizen; or New Zealand citizen; or have been granted permanent resident status; or be a non-Australian / NZ citizen / permanent resident who understands that international tuition fees may be payable during candidature.

•Meet PhD admission requirements including: have an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or2A or equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8), including a research component of at least 6months’ full-time study achieving Distinction (75%) OR including evidence of equivalent research experience, such as a substantial first-author refereed publication or track record as an investigator on a competitive grant; and

• Be available to commence as a full-time PhD student at Flinders University in semester 1, 2023
