The University has established the Research Students Overseas Field Trip Grant. to provide funding towards overseas field trips for competent postgraduate research students whose theses would be greatly improved by the opportunity to undertake research and collection of data which is inaccessible in Australia.

The value of the grant will normally be $2500 towards travel and living expenses; travel insurance can be  arranged through the University on request. 

Requirements for Research Students Overseas Field Trip Grant Offering Two Qualification

Applicants for the Research Students Overseas Field Trip Grant must be:

• enrolled in the University for a PhD degree, normally in their second or early third year of candidature (or an equivalent period part-time) or be enrolled in the University for a Masters degree by research, normally in their first year of candidature (or an equivalent period part-time); and
• have clearly demonstrated during this period a capacity for research; and
• have gained unqualified support from his/her supervisor for the proposed overseas visit

Interview date, Process and Venue for Research Students Overseas Field Trip Grant Offering Two

The Overseas Field Trip Grant shall be awarded by the University Higher Degree by Research Scholarships Committee which shall take into consideration the merit of both the applicant and the application, and the supporting statement/s provided by the applicant and supervisor. Awards are conducted in line with the Conditions of Award.
