Applications are now open for the Flinders University 2025 Deane O Southgate Scholarship. This scholarship is named in honour of Associate Professor Deane Oakford Southgate AM FRACGP, FACOM, who was the Head of the Department of Primary Care and Community Medicine in the Flinders University School of Medicine until his death in 1991. This scholarship was established to support students who have an interest in pursuing a career in general practice. The value of the scholarship is $5,000 and one scholarship will be available per annum as long as funding permits.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. The scholarship will be awarded based on the demonstrated passion and commitment to pursuing a career in general practice.
Selection will be made by a committee within the College of Medicine and Public Health in conjunction with Student Finance and Scholarships
