Flinders University Elevate: Boosting Women in STEM 2024

The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering’s (ATSE) Elevate: Boosting Women in STEM will award up to 500 undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships over six years to women in STEM. The Elevate Program aims to address gender inequities in STEM through fostering more women-led industry-academia collaborations in applied research and business, growing professional skills of women in STEM and propelling women into leadership.

Aim and Benefits of Elevate: Boosting women in STEM

Leadership Scholarship 

Up to $70,000 for a maximum of two years. 

Postgraduate Research Scholarship 

Up to $130,224.50 for a maximum of three-and-a-half (3.5) years. Up to $130,224.50 for a maximum of three-and-a-half (3.5) years.

Undergraduate Scholarship 2025

Up to $30,000 for a maximum of three years.


Requirements for Elevate: Boosting women in STEM Qualification

Applicants are required to meet three eligibility criteria: 

  • Identify as a woman or non-binary person
  • Be enrolling as a domestic student
  • Be planning to undertake a STEM degree, PhD or higher studies to improve business acumen at an Australian university, commencing in 2025

ATSE particularly encourages applications from individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; individuals from regional, rural or remote areas; LGBTQIA+; individuals from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds; low-socioeconomic backgrounds; or those living with a disability. Diversity, inclusion, and achievement relative to opportunity will be considered in the assessment and selection process.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Elevate: Boosting women in STEM

Selection Criteria

Eligible applications will be assessed by an expert selection committee consisting of STEM leaders with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences who are representative of the STEM ecosystem. The panel will review the applicant’s responses and discipline of study and will consider the diversity of applicants.

This selection committee will be responsible for recommending applicants for Elevate scholarships.
