Southern Highland Community Hospice is offering scholarships in palliative care post graduate education for two local nurses.

The following courses are available online, full-time or part-time: 

  • Flinders University Graduate Certificate in Palliative and End-of-Life Care
  • Flinders University Graduate Diploma in Palliative and End-of-Life Care
  • Master of Palliative and End-of-Life Care

Aim and Benefits of Southern Highlands Community Hospice Palliative Care Scholarships

The scholarships are for graduate nurses considering post graduate study in palliative care to study at University of Technology Sydney or Flinders University and will cover all course fees, and in some cases, study leave support may be provided (depending on employer).


Requirements for Southern Highlands Community Hospice Palliative Care Scholarships Qualification

University requirements:

  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent AND Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as a health professional in Australia AND Concurrent employment in or access to the clinical area of study AND A minimum of 1 year full-time, or equivalent part-time, post registration clinical experience

OR

  • A minimum of 1 year full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant professional experience AND A general capacity to undertake tertiary education, demonstrated by successful completion of hospital or college certificates and professional or staff development

Applicants’ current nursing registration is confirmed via the National Register of Practitioners.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Southern Highlands Community Hospice Palliative Care Scholarships

EOIs will be reviewed by the SHCH panel and form the basis for interviews. The successful applicants will be notified in time for the enrolment in the University of choice for a semester one start.

Please provide the following information in your application: 

  1. Current Curriculum Vitae including qualifications and professional experience,
  2. A one-page letter addressed to The Secretary of Southern Highlands Community Hospice, detailing your interest in further study, and how this scholarship opportunity will support you to achieve your career goals.
  3. Willingness to work in a Southern Highlands Community Hospice setting (part-time or full-time).
