Flinders University The Nita Curtis Scholarship 2025

Applications are now open Flinders University The Nita Curtis Scholarship 2025. A generous donation from the Community Accommodation and Respite Agency (CARA) to honour the contribution made by Nita Curtis to the lives of people with severe disabilities, has enabled the establishment of The Nita Curtis Scholarship.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students and encourage a future workforce which has the sensitive capability to meet the needs of people living with severe disabilities.

About Flinders University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Aim and Benefits of The Nita Curtis Scholarship

Subject to the availability of funds, there will be one scholarship to the total value of $2,500 awarded annually. 


Requirements for The Nita Curtis Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must:

  • Be undertaking their study in Australia; and
  • Be undertaking either an Honours, Graduate Diploma, or a Master’s by coursework or research degree at Flinders University; and
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress; and
  • Be undertaking study relevant to the disability field 

Interview date, Process and Venue for The Nita Curtis Scholarship

Selection Criteria

The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following:

  • Academic merit; and
  • Demonstrated interest in disability services; and
  • The extent to which applicants can demonstrate an interest in improving the lives of people living with severe disabilities in Australia.

Selection will be made by a selection panel with representatives from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.  If there are applicants studying in other Colleges, representatives from those Colleges will also be invited to participate in the selection process.

Applications should be submitted online through the Flinders University Student System. Applicants will need to login and navigate to the My Scholarships tab to submit an application. The application form for this scholarship is called " The Nita Curtis Scholarship", or you can search for it by the keyword "Curtis".
