The Yungkurrinthi Indigenous Commencing Student Payment aims to increase the participation and retention of Indigenous commencing undergraduate and postgraduate students who are enrolled in their first-degree program at Flinders University. The scholarship provides financial assistance towards education costs for Indigenous students enrolled at Flinders University.
The scholarship is funded by the Shirley Matthews Indigenous Education Fund.

Aim and Benefits of Yungkurrinthi Indigenous Commencing Student Payment Undergraduate Scholarship
- The scholarship will have a value of $500 to be paid in a single instalment after the census date of the first semester of study.
Requirements for Yungkurrinthi Indigenous Commencing Student Payment Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification
Applicants for the Scholarship must:
- be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
- identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; and
- be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live or have lived; and
- be commencing their first undergraduate or post-graduate course at Flinders University.
Interview date, Process and Venue for Yungkurrinthi Indigenous Commencing Student Payment Undergraduate Scholarship
- The scholarship will be awarded in order of completed applications. The scholarship will continue to be awarded until the annual quota is filled.
