German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Bilateral Exchange of Academics 2022

To improve international relations and bilateral research cooperations between German and foreign universities, the DAAD supports exchanges of scientists and academics from partner countries. The basis of these exchanges are cultural exchange programmes and bilateral agreements with foreign partner organisations.

About German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

DAAD scholarship in Germany is a private, federally funded and state-funded, self governing national agency of the institutions of higher education in Germany, representing 365 German higher education institutions (100 universities and technical universities, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 52 colleges of music and art) [2003]. The DAAD itself does not offer programs of study or courses, but awards competitive, merit-based grants for use toward study and/or research in Germany at any of the accredited German institutions of higher education. Aim and Benefits of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) PhD Scholarship

Monthly payments of:

2,000 euros for assistant teachers, assistant professors and lecturers

2,150 euros for professors

Unless otherwise regulated by bilateral agreements, the costs of the outward and return journey are borne by the respective sending country.

Requirements for German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) PhD Scholarship Qualification

An independent selection committee reviews applications.

The most important selection criteria are:

Academic achievements and, if applicable, publications, which must be documented in the curriculum vitae and a list of publications

A convincing and well-planned research project
