Aim and Benefits of DKFZ International PhD Program

  • All PhD positions at the DKFZ are fully funded for three years. The salaries are competitive by national standards. There is no tuition fee.
  • Doctoral researchers awarded a PhD position through the biannual selection roundsare funded either by a DKFZ PhD contract (65 % of a TVöD EG 13) or by third-party funding from their group leader.
  • In addition to DKFZ PhD positions, the DKFZ offers scholarships to international PhD candidates in collaboration with the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) within the Graduate School Scholarship Programme.

Requirements for DKFZ International PhD Program Qualification

  1. Applicants still studying for their master’s degree should anticipate to receive it not later than 6 months after they have been accepted to the PhD program.
  2. A transcript or provisional certificate from the university, stating the examination marks already obtained, should be provided.
  3. During completion of the online application form you will be required to upload a scanned copy of your certificates as a JPEG or PDF file of not more than 3MB.
