The Reginald F. Lewis Fellowship at Harvard Law School supports a recent law graduate interested in legal scholarship and preparing for a career in law teaching. The Fellow is required to prepare at least one major article for publication, audit courses, and attend workshops at the law school.

About Harvard University

Harvard is the oldest institution of higher education in the United States, established in 1636 by vote of the Great and General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Requirements for Reginald F. Lewis Fellowship Qualification

  • Recent law graduates with a J.D., LL.M, or S.J.D. degree
  • Applicants from any nationality can apply.
  • Open to individuals who have recently completed their law degree.
  • There is no discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.
  • Passion to pursue a career as a legal scholar or law teacher.
  • A strong interest in the legal field is essential.
  • Relevant legal or academic experience is preferred.
  • Must submit a detailed research proposal or project plan.
  • A strong command of English is required.
  • Meet the specified application deadline for the fellowship cycle

Based on academic qualifications, research and writing project proposals, interest in law teaching and legal scholarship, transcripts, and letters of reference


Documents Required for Application

  1. Prepare a comprehensive résumé or curriculum vitae.
  2. Write a detailed description of the research and writing project (maximum four pages).
  3. Write a statement of interest in law teaching and legal scholarship (maximum four pages).
  4. Gather copies of all transcripts.
  5. Obtain two letters of reference addressing potential for success as a legal scholar and law teacher.
