HEED-Africa 2021 Staff Mobility for African University Staff

The staff mobility, academic and administrative staff, offers additional opportunities for personal and professional development through the possibility of doing practical training, researching and teaching in a partner institution with the duration of 1 or 2 months of effective work.

This type of mobility always involves the active participation in teaching, research and in the daily life of office activities. By submitting his/her application the applicant must be aware not only of the eligibility criteria but also of the tasks that the mobility will demand.

Aim and Benefits of HEED-Africa Staff Mobility

For academic staff short-term mobility participants, the HEED Africa mobility scholarship covers:
1. Round-trip flight ticket and visa costs.
2. Insurance (Health, accident and travel).
3. A monthly subsistence allowance of 1,200 Euro per month for the mobility duration.


Requirements for HEED-Africa Staff Mobility Qualification

In order to be eligible for HEED Africa mobility, academic staff must meet and comply with the following criteria at the time of the application for a scholarship:

  • 1. Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the programme. Check these eligible African countries Here
  • 2. Work and teach for full time in a one of the following HEED partner universities
    • -Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
    • -Kyambogo University, Uganda.
    • -Makarere University, Uganda.
    • -Milpark Education, South Africa, and
    • -University of Ghana, Ghana.
  • 3. Have not benefited in the past from an Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Programme Intra-AFRICA scholarship for the same type of mobility regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.
  • 4. Academic mobility flows for staff between institutions located within a single country of the partnership are not eligible.
  • 5. Have sufficient knowledge of English language or the medium of instruction in the hosting university.
  • 6. Female applicants and applicants with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply.
