Requirements for Hertie School African Scholars Programme Master's Scholarship Qualification

• Available for the Master of Public Policy, Master of International Affairs and Master of Data Science for Public Policy

This programme is specifically designed for young people who

• Are facing economic challenges and who are underrepresented in similar opportunities.
• Are nationals of one of the following African countries: Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Somaliland, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda or Zambia.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to social impact and community leadership.
• Embody values such as collaboration, perseverance, and optimism.
• Are eager to grow as future leaders in public policy, international affairs, or data science for the common good.
• We aim to support those who have had limited access to comparable programmes or whose personal circumstances have created additional barriers to pursuing their goals.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Hertie School African Scholars Programme Master's Scholarship

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with representatives from SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit and the Hertie School.

Application Deadline

How to Apply

• Apply to the Hertie School
  Submit your application for one of the Hertie School master’s programmes by 15 January. We recommend applying as early as possible. After receiving an admission offer, you will be invited to access the Funding Application and will have two weeks to apply for scholarships.
• Complete the scholarship application
  After receiving your admission offer, you’ll gain access to the scholarship portal. Submit a short essay explaining:
  • An initiative or action you’ve taken to benefit your community
  • How it reflects your values and leadership potential
  • How this scholarship would help you deepen your impact
