This scholarship was established to encourage students to continue their studies in Classics. Classics is vital to a broad based humanities education. It examines the legacies of ancient Greece and Rome, the ideas expressed through language and literature and how they have influenced the way we live today.

Up to $5,000 towards fees

Requirements for Ivanie Down Joslin Classics Scholarship Qualification

• This scholarship is open to a current full time student majoring in Classical Studies, Latin, or Greek, who is intending to enrol in their third undergraduate year or Honours year majoring in Classical Studies, Latin or Greek  at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington in the year following application.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Ivanie Down Joslin Classics Scholarship

• Applicants must be currently enrolled at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington as a full time student.
• Applicants must be majoring in Classical Studies, Latin or Greek.
• Applicants must be intending to enrol in 300 level or towards a Bachelor of Honours.
• Applicants are chosen on the basis of academic merit and their passion for the subject. Financial hardship may be considered as a secondary consideration when choosing a recipient.

Application Deadline

How to Apply

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
