The Science@Leuven Scholarship at the Faculty of Science of KU Leuven is a prestigious academic award established to recognise and support outstanding students who demonstrate a keen interest in scientific research and a commitment to the advancement of knowledge.
Motivated and talented international students interested in pursuing a Master’s degree at the Faculty of Science of KU Leuven are invited to apply for the scholarship. Scholarships are highly competitive, as the number of scholarships per academic year is limited. Only students with excellent results (comparable to at least Distinction at KU Leuven) in their previous curriculum will be considered.

Aim and Benefits of Science@Leuven Scholarship
- Non-EEA students receive a partial fee waiver. Regardless of the choosen programme, they pay a fee of €1.651,10 in 2025-2026. (fee for 26-27 is not yet known)
- EEA-students do not receive an additional tuition fee waiver on top of the allowance
Allowance of € 12,000 per academic year for a maximum of two consecutive years

Requirements for Science@Leuven Scholarship Qualification
- This scholarship is available for students from all nationalities
- Students have to meet the admission requirements as they are set for the corresponding programmes.
- Applicants are only accepted if they have not previously studied or worked at KU Leuven and have not yet obtained a Master's degree or a PhD.
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree from a non-Belgian university that gives them access to the Master's programme they are applying for.
- Candidates must be willing to act as an ambassador for the programme for which they are applying.
Documents Required for Application
Applicants must submit the following documents via the KU Leuven application tool:
- Standard documents required for admission.
- A complete list of course titles for which they have received credits (Transcript of Records). Indicate the size of the course (in ECTS-credits) and the result obtained, preferably according to the ECTS scale; if a different scale is used, please provide a summary explanation of the meaning of the grades.
- A brief description (about half a page to one page) description of the courses from their previous/current programme that they consider most relevant as a preparation for the Master's programme they are considering. Provide a brief description of the content, the textbooks used and the number of credits.
- Two letters of reference from internationally renowned professors.
- A letter of motivation for the programme.

- Apply for the Master's programme of your choice using the KU Leuven application tool. Please read the application instructions carefully.
- Upload the required documents via the KU Leuven application tool
- Once you have completed and submitted your application for the Master's programme, you will receive an email confirming that your application has been succesfully submitted. warning
- Apply for the Science@Leuven Scholarship and add the application confirmation email.
- Your registration is complete once you have received an email confirming that you have been registered for the Science@Leuven Scholarship.
There are two mandatory forms for this scholarshp:
- Study programme: Application form for the eligible Master's programmes
- Scholarship: Registration form for the Science@Leuven Scholarship
