La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship 2026

La Trobe University recognises the important contribution that people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds make to the Australian community. As such, we are pleased to offer two specific scholarships in Semester 1 2026. There are two methods of applying, depending which visa you hold (see 'Are you eligible to apply?' below).

Undergraduate Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Undergraduate Scholarship

• The La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship (International) is for face-to-face undergraduate studies, will cover all tuition costs and include an AUD $5000 annual cost-of-living scholarship for the normal duration of their degree.

Requirements for Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

• Be residing in Australia
• Submit an application using the online application form available 13 October 2025 - 1 December 2025
• Be deemed as a person seeking asylum or a refugee holding one of the following:

1. Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) (V785)
2. Temporary Humanitarian Stay visa (Subclass 449)
3. Temporary Humanitarian Concern visa (Subclass 786)
4. Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) (V790)
5. Anyone on a bridging visa and who has applied for a Permanent Protection visa (subclass 866).
6. Bridging Visa E (BVE) (subclass 050)

• Enrolled in Semester 1 2026 as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree offered by La Trobe University*

* Please note students enrolled in Open Universities Australia, third-party providers and online courses are not eligible.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Undergraduate Scholarship

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

• completion of the online scholarship application form
• successfully receiving a course offer and enrolling in Semester 1 2026 as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree

• Scholarship applications for international students will not be assessed until a course offer is confirmed.
