La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship 2027

La Trobe University recognises the important contribution that people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds make to the Australian community.

As such, La Trobe is pleased to offer two specific scholarships in Semester 1 2027. There are two methods of applying, depending on which visa you hold.

• The La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship (Domestic) is for face-to-face undergraduate studies, and recipients will receive an AUD $5000 annual cost-of-living scholarship for the normal duration of their degree. Tuition costs are not covered. Applications for 2027 are open now until 9 October 2026 (5pm).
• The La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship (International) is for face-to-face undergraduate studies, will cover all tuition costs and include an AUD $5000 annual cost-of-living scholarship for the normal duration of their degree. Applications for 2027 will open 12 October - 6 December 2026.

Aim and Benefits of La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship

• Domestic: $5000 per annum cost-of-living scholarship.
• International: 100% of tuition fees and $5000 per annum cost-of-living scholarship.

Requirements for La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

Visa and eligibility requirements for La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship (Domestic):

• Be deemed as a person seeking asylum or a refugee holding a Resolution of Status (RoS) visa (subclass 851), Permanant Protection/Humanitarian visas 200, 201, 202, 203 and 204
• Successfully receive a course offer via VTAC and enrol in Semester 1 2027 as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree*

Visa and eligibility requirements for La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship (International):

• Be residing in Australia
• Submit an application using the online application form which will be made available 12 October 2026 - 6 December 2026
• Be deemed as a person seeking asylum or a refugee holding one of the following:
  1. Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) (V785)
  2. Temporary Humanitarian Stay visa (Subclass 449)
  3. Temporary Humanitarian Concern visa (Subclass 786)
  4. Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) (V790)
  5. Anyone on a bridging visa and who has applied for a Permanent Protection visa (subclass 866).
  6. Bridging Visa E (BVE) (subclass 050)
• Enrolled in Semester 1 2027 as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree offered by La Trobe University*

* Please note students enrolled in Open Universities Australia, third-party providers and online courses are not eligible.

Interview date, Process and Venue for La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

• completion of the online scholarship application form
• successfully receiving a course offer and enrolling in Semester 1 2027 as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree
