This scholarship is from a bequest to Massey University by Ken Powell, who had his own precision equipment business and his wife Elizabeth Powell, who was a registered nurse and midwife. Their bequest was to give "people enthusiastic about technology an extra edge".

Requirements for Ken and Elizabeth Powell Scholarship Qualification

You must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who is undertaking research relating to the advancement of technology.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Ken and Elizabeth Powell Scholarship

These are undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships.

You will be undertaking research relating to the advancement of technology in the year of award.

Undergraduate research will typically be 30 credits may include:

  • Research projects as part of coursework
  • Research conducted during an internship or placement
  • Honours projects

Postgraduate research will typically be 60 credits and may include:

  • Research Reports
  • Professional Projects, Professional Practice, or Professional Inquiry
  • Clinical Projects
  • Applied Analytic Projects

Preference may be given to research in areas of health, nursing, or built environment and construction.

Applicants undertaking research with a credit value of 90 credits or more, including Doctoral at level, are not eligible to apply.


Documents Required for Application

Include the following with your application:

  • Your CV
  • An outline of your research and how it relates or related to the advancement of technology. Include any evidence of your commitment to advancing the benefits of technology
  • A supporting statement indicating your good citizenship and leadership or community involvement
  • A reference letter from an academic member of staff who can comment on your academic abilities, with particular reference to your technology project
  • A reference letter from a referee who can attest to your leadership /community involvement
  • Your academic transcripts for any tertiary study completed outside of Massey University
