Multiple UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) 2021-2022 Internships for African Students

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa is recruiting african graduates and undergraduates for its internship in Communication program.

The UNECA internship is for three (3) months with an opportunity for extension, depending on the needs of the Director. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The intern will work for five days per week under the supervision of the Director.

About United Nations

The English language component of the Indigenous Fellowship Programme (IFP) was established in 1997. It takes place at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Switzerland and lasts for 4 weeks, usually coinciding with the annual meeting of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP). Requirements for UNECA Internships Qualification

To qualify for consideration for an internship by the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: 

  • Applications must meet one of the following educational requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation;
  • 2) Be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • 3) Have a demonstrated and keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
  • 4) Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
