NYU 2025 Truman Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

The Truman is a merit-based award offered to US citizens and nationals who want to go to graduate school in preparation for a career in public service. Truman Scholars have been recognized as future "change agents." They have the passion, intellect, and leadership potential that should enable them to improve the ways that public entities — be they government agencies, nonprofit organizations, public and private educational institutions, or advocacy organizations — serve the public good.

Aim and Benefits of Truman Scholarship

The scholarship provides $30,000 for graduate study in the United States.

Requirements for Truman Scholarship Qualification

Candidates must: 

• Be an undergraduate junior at the time of NYU deadline
• Be a U.S. citizen or national
• Demonstrate significant leadership and a commitment to public service
• Plan to build a career in public service

Interview date, Process and Venue for Truman Scholarship

NYU may nominate up to four applicants for the Truman Scholarship. Candidates must apply through NYU and may not apply independently. Interested students must submit a Preliminary Application by the deadline listed above to be considered.
