PROMOS International Scholarships 2026 at RWTH Aachen University

Since its inception in 2010, the PROMOS Scholarship Program administered by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD and funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research, has provided partial scholarships to support students pursuing academic experiences abroad.

PROMOS International Scholarships

Requirements for PROMOS International Scholarships Qualification

Students from all faculties at RWTH are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program at RWTH
• Hold German or international citizenship. (stays in a student’s home country are not eligible (the home country is defined as the country where the student has resided for most of the past five years)
• Have not received a PROMOS scholarship for their current academic program or have received less than six months of funding. Eligibility resets with the start of a new academic program, e.g. transitioning from a bachelor’s to a master’s degree.
• Have secured confirmation for their stay abroad (for independently organized stays, please register as a Free Mover)

Doctoral candidates, except medical students, are not eligible for PROMOS funding. Interested doctoral candidates should contact the DAAD directly for alternative funding opportunities.

Documents Required for Application

• Applicants must submit the following documents by the deadline: Confirmation from the host institution (confirmation or internship contract) or confirmation of having secured a spot in their program from the RWTHweltweit team (e.g. screenshot from MoveOn or nomination email)
• Resume in tabular format
• Proof of language proficiency, e.g., language certificates, such as the TOEFL test, RWTH Language Center certifications, or the high school diploma (Abiturzeugnis)
• Current academic transcript
• Master’s students must also submit their bachelor’s transcript
• A current academic progress certificate (not a certificate of enrollment!)
• Additional supporting documents, such as awards or volunteer work, etc. Please note: Only activities with verifiable proof will be considered.
