Aim and Benefits of Qatar Government Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship
Amiri Scholarship Programme
- QAR 8,000 basic monthly scholarship stipend
- QAR 12,000 monthly travel allowance
- Two business class air tickets annually for the sponsored student
- Study years are counted towards service tenure
- QAR 40,000 pre-departure allowance (one-time payment)
Scholarship Abroad Program
- QAR 8,000 basic monthly scholarship stipend
- QAR 6,000 monthly travel allowance
- One economy class air ticket annually
- One business class air ticket annually for the following countries: United States of America, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, and Korea
- QAR 25,000 pre-departure allowance (one-time payment)
Abroad Scholarship Programme Benefits – Psychological Counselling Programme and Behavioural Health Programme:
- Basic monthly stipend of QAR 8,000
- Monthly allowance of QAR 6,000
- Pre-departure allowance of QAR 25,000 (one-time payment)
- An air ticket annually, with additional benefits for universities on the Amiri Scholarship list.
Abroad Scholarship Programme Benefits – Nuclear Engineering Programme:
- Job placement at job grade 9 immediately upon receiving the scholarship.
- Study years are counted towards service tenure
- A monthly scholarship stipend in addition to the employment salary.
Abroad Scholarship Programme Benefits – Medicine:
- QAR 8,000 basic monthly scholarship stipend (from Year 1 to Year 4)
- QAR 10,000 monthly travel allowance (from Year 1 to Year 4)
- Two economy class air tickets annually (from Year 1 to Year 4)
- QAR 30,000 total monthly salary (Year 5 onwards)
- Two business class air tickets annually for the sponsored student (Year 5 onwards)
- Year 5 onwards are counted towards service tenure
- QAR 30,000 pre-departure allowance (one-time payment)
In-country Scholarship Program
- QAR 10,000 for the disciplines of medicine, education, and paramedic.
- QAR 8,000 for the disciplines of engineering, computer science, and health sciences.
- QAR 6,000 for the disciplines of applied sciences and arts
- QAR 4,000 for the disciplines of Professional Diploma.
Tomouh Programme Benefits (Male Students):
- Job placement at job grade 9 immediately upon receiving the scholarship
- Study years are counted towards service tenure
- A monthly scholarship stipend in addition to the employment salary.
Requirements for Qatar Government Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification
General requirements for government scholarships (in-country and abroad) for bachelor's degree (Delegating):
- The student must be a Qatari citizen.
- The student must be of good conduct.
- The student must be medically fit.
- The student must NOT be over 25 years of age.
- In case five (5) years have lapsed since the student obtained the General Secondary Certificate or its equivalent, s/he must score 6 in IELTS or its equivalent.
- The student must NOT be an employee in either the public or the private sector.
- Male students must provide a no-objection letter from the National Service Academy.
- The student should not have been previously awarded a scholarship funded by any other entity, nor should s/he have enrolled in any educational institution for the same or higher academic degree funded by the government.
- The student undertakes to comply with the rules, regulations, and instructions issued by the relevant department.
- The student must adhere to the discipline and the university as specified in the scholarship, and s/he may not change their discipline or university without written approval from the Department of Scholarships. In the event of any unauthorized change, the student shall be subject to the penalty clause provided for in the scholarship contract.
- After graduation, the student would be required to work at a placement public entity for an equal duration as that of the scholarship. In case of failure to work at the placement entity, the student shall be subject to the penalty clause provided for in the scholarship contract. The student must comply with all conditions set by the relevant department as per the program and academic degree.
General requirements for government scholarships (in-country and abroad) for bachelor's degree (Consolidating):
- The student must NOT be over 27 years of age.
- The student must obtain a 2.7 GPA or its equivalent.
- The student must have completed 30 credit hours or its equivalent (academic year) under the British system, and NOT less than 15 hours (semester) to graduation, provided credit hours earned before the consolidation to the scholarship are compatible with the university equivalency system of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
- The student should NOT have been previously awarded a scholarship funded by any other entity, NOR should s/he have enrolled in any educational institution for the same academic degree, except for students whose time spent in a previous program is counted as part of the new scholarship study program.
- A student should NOT be consolidated for a bachelor's degree under TOP UP, Sandwich Year, extensive, partial, or online programs.
- The discipline should be according to the disciplines listed in the scholarship plan.
Requirements for government scholarship (in-country or abroad) delegation for graduate studies (Master’s - PhD):
- The candidate must be a Qatari citizen.
- The candidate must be of good conduct.
- The candidate must be medically fit.
- The candidate must NOT be over 45 years of age for the Master’s program.
- The candidate must NOT be over 40 years of age for the PhD program.
- The candidate's performance in his/her preceding academic degree should NOT be less than a grade of "Very Good".
- Employees must submit a nomination letter from their employer stating the need for the desired discipline.
- The desired discipline for the scholarship must be in line with the candidate’s job description and duties.
- Obtaining the approval of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.
- The candidate must be free from work when s/he joins study abroad.
- The candidate must provide a graduation statement of the preceding degree (the degree must go through the equivalency process or attested by the relevant authority in the country).
- Changing the study discipline or the educational institution should NOT lead to an increase in the study duration beyond the period specified in the delegating scholarship.
- The candidate should NOT have been previously awarded a scholarship funded by another entity NOR should he/she have enrolled in any educational institution for the same or higher academic degree at the expense of the State.
- The candidate undertakes to comply with the rules, regulations, and instructions issued by the relevant department.
- The student must adhere to the discipline and the university as specified in the scholarship, and he/she may NOT change their discipline or university without written approval from the Department of Scholarships. In the event of any unauthorized change, the student shall reimburse the amounts disbursed during the scholarship.
- After graduation, the student would be required to work at the candidate’s respective workplace for a double duration as that of the scholarship. In case a student fails to comply, all amounts disbursed during the scholarship must be recovered.
- The student must comply with all conditions set by the relevant department as per program and academic degree.
Documents Required for Application
Documents required when registering for a bachelor's degree: (Delegating and Consolidating)
Documents required upon registration:
- Unconditional acceptance letter from one of the universities on the scholarship list.
- Copy of the student's QID card – both sides.
- A General Secondary School Certificate for state school graduates; private school graduates must submit their General Secondary School Certificate before the equivalency of their certificates, provided that their secondary school certificate is subject to equivalency process after receiving preliminary approval for the scholarship.
- Transcript in case of applying for consolidation.
Documents required after approval:
- A letter from the National Service Academy (for males only).
- To Whom It May Concern letter from a local bank with the student's account number (IBAN).
- Copy of the student's passport.
- To Whom It May Concern letter (stating that the student is not employed) from the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.
- Copy of the student's parent or guarantor QID card – both sides.
- Salary or retirement certificate of the student's parent (guarantor).
- Certificate from the Medical Commission.
- Police Clearance Certificate.
Documents required to apply for a postgraduate scholarship:
- Unconditional acceptance letter from one of the universities on the Scholarship list.
- Copy of the student’s QID card – both sides.
- A graduation statement of the preceding degree or its equivalent.
- Transcript of subjects of the previous degree.
- Nomination letter from the employer.
- Letter of approval issued by the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.
- To-Whom-It-May-Concern letter from a local bank with the student's account number (IBAN), for students studying abroad.

- Contact universities to obtain final, unconditional offers of admission in accordance with the approved fields of study and the lists of participating universities. It is recommended to secure multiple offers from both domestic and international universities, depending on the fields of study approved in the country or abroad.
- Pass the tests for overseas scholarships (IELTS or TOEFL).
- Create a new account on the scholarship portal for new students.
- If you have a previous inactive account, you must reactivate it by resetting your password.
- Submit your scholarship application via the “Register New Scholarship” service in the scholarship services section and attach the “documents required for application”.
- Private school graduates may apply for a scholarship before the equivalency of their certificates, provided that their secondary school certificate is subject to equivalency process after receiving preliminary approval for the scholarship.
- If any documents are missing, the student will be notified via text message or email and must respond to the request for clarification via the student portal.
- Upon receipt of the preliminary approval notification, the student must attach the required documents to complete the application.
- Complete the criminal record check and the Medical Commission examination.
- Sign the contract and activate the scholarship.
