These awards, established in 1994 and funded by Queen’s University and the Bank of Ireland, are available to provide financial support for postgraduate research students at Queen's who are Queen’s alumni or the children of alumni. Alumni are defined as students who have completed a undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at Queen’s University Belfast.
Award holders will be selected primarily on the basis of academic merit, including previous academic performance.
The Alumni Postgraduate Awards are designed to provide financial support for postgraduate research students at Queen’s University Belfast and may be used as contributions toward tuition fees or subsistence, or to provide a travel scholarship or for such other purposes as are approved by the University. Preference may be given to postgraduate students who can evidence childcare costs.

For 2024-25 there will be five Alumni Postgraduate Research Scholarships awarded of £1,000 each maximum.

Applicants will be asked to outline the intended use of the Alumni Postgraduate scholarship and the anticipated/added benefit to their research and/or ability to undertake research.
