RWTH Aachen – University of Alberta Junior Research Fellowships 2025

Applications are now open for the RWTH Aachen – University of Alberta Junior Research Fellowships 2025. The funding for researchers of the University of Alberta provided under the RWTH Aachen – University of Alberta Junior Research Fellowship program is intended to support the scholarship holder in carrying out their research project at RWTH Aachen. The scholarship holder may dispose of the results of their research project at RWTH Aachen during their stay and thereafter. In no case does RWTH Aachen acquire exclusive rights to the research achievements of the scholarship holder that are produced supported by this funding.

Aim and Benefits of RWTH Aachen – University of Alberta Junior Research Fellowships

Master's students

• Stay in Aachen: 900 euros per month for up to six months
• Stay in Edmonton: 1,250 euros per month for up to six months

PhD students

• 1,250 euros per month for up to six months

Single parents as well as chronically ill or disabled individuals can be granted a higher scholarship amount by providing proof for the additional need.

Master's students and doctoral candidates from both the University of Alberta and RWTH Aachen

Interview date, Process and Venue for RWTH Aachen – University of Alberta Junior Research Fellowships

• Excellent academic performance
• Strategic value for the partnership between University of Alberta and RWTH (see "Letter of recommendation" under Application Documents)

Documents Required for Application

• Curriculum Vitae with contact details (mailing address, e-mail)
• Declaration of objectives with an outline of the research project, name of the supervisor, information on the duration of the stay, description of the expected results totaling 1-2 pages
• Letter of recommendation from the supervisor of the home university with reference to the research project and details on the expected outcome and/or prospective cooperation in the future
• Confirmation of supervision of the host university with reference to the research project as well as details on the expected outcome and/or prospective cooperation in the future
• Enrollment certification from your home university (for master students)
• Transcript of records (for master students)
• A copy of your passport
