The IKEA and Södra 2023 Fully Funded Scholarship at Linnaeus University, Sweden

From the autumn semester 2023 we are glad to announce that Linnaeus University will introduce a student scholarship in collaboration with IKEA and Södra through our unique collaboration The Bridge.

The scholarship is ONLY for students applying to the master’s programme Innovation through Business, Engineering and Design as their first choice in your application through www.universityadmissions.se. You can apply for the scholarship for any of the three disciplines.

The scholarship is a full comprehensive scholarship that covers 100 % of the tuition fee for the programme and helps to cover living costs. The student will receive 9 450 SEK/month for living expenses. The scholarship does not cover the application fee of 900 SEK. The next application round will be on 8 February 2023 and is for students applying for the autumn semester of 2023.

The scholarship is initially granted for one semester. It will automatically be extended for the duration of the programme, if study results are satisfactory and the student fulfils our scholarship regulations.

Linnaeus University is a state university in the Swedish historical province Småland, with two campuses located in Växjö and Kalmar respectively. Linnaeus University was established in 2010 by a merger of former Växjö University and Kalmar University, and is named in honour of the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus.

Aim and Benefits of Linnaeus University IKEA and Södra

Requirements for Linnaeus University IKEA and Södra Qualification

You are eligible to apply if you: 

  • are from a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland
  • have applied for the master’s programme Innovation through Business, Engineering and Design as your first choice via www.universityadmissions.se
  • have submitted your application before January 16 and have sent/uploaded all required documents before February 1
  • have paid the application fee to www.universityadmissions.se before February 1
  • have filled out the application form for the scholarship before the application deadline.

Based on which criteria will Linnaeus University, IKEA and Södra select the students who will be awarded the scholarship?

The decision to award scholarships will primarily be based on the students' academic merits. Usually, this is based on the CGPA, but the ranking of the previous university and the students' proficiency in English will also be considered. Linnaeus University also favors an even distribution of students when it comes to country of origin and gender.

Who funds the scholarship?

The scholarship is funded by IKEA, Södra and Linnaeus University through the collaboration The Bridge.

Timeline for the IKEA and Södra Scholarship

End of January/beginning of February - All students who have applied for the master’s programme Innovation through Business, Engineering and Design on www.universityadmissions.se as their first choice will get an email with information on how to apply for the scholarship, along with a link to the application form. Make sure to check your junk mail/spam folder. The email is sent out 8th of February.

February 8, 2023 – Scholarship application opens.

February 20, 2023 - Application closes at 13.00 (1.00 PM CET, Central European Time).

End of April - Announcement of who will be receiving a scholarship from Linnaeus University.


Documents Required for Application

We need the following documents from you:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivation letter

The motivation letter should contain a maximum of 600 words. Please answer the following questions in your motivation letter:

  • Why do you want to study this programme at Linnaeus University?
  • What other qualities do you have besides academic excellence?
  • What are your career aspirations?

  1. Make your application for the programme at www.universityadmissions.seby January 16. You have to choose Linnaeus University as your first choice. 
  2. Fill out the Scholarship application form along with the required documents, which are listed below, before the deadline that is mentioned above.
