The Pearsall Fellowship is a one year postdoctoral fellowship in naval and maritime history. Applications are encouraged for work on any aspect of naval and maritime history, in the broadest sense, anywhere in the world, from the fall of the Roman Empire in the West up to the present day.

Requirements for Institute of Historical Research (IHR) Fellowship Qualification
- Candidates applying for Pearsall Fellowship in Naval and Maritime History 2022 can belong to any nationality.
- The applicants can have their Ph.D. or equivalent awarded in any country.
- A condition of the award is that Fellows should undertake further historical research and writing.
- Those who have previously held another postdoctoral research fellowship of 12 months or more will not be eligible.
- The Fellowship cannot be held in conjunction with any other substantial maintenance grant.

- CV in one page
- summary of the doctoral thesis in a maximum of 750 words
- a postdoctoral research proposal with a timetable for completion
- a sample of written work in English with (8,000 to 10,000 words)
