UNE Machine Learning Modelling Scholarship 2026

University of New England (UNE) are currently seeking a PhD candidate to work on this exciting project in the School of Science and Technology.

This scholarship opportunity is open to both Domestic and International applicants, which will be funded jointly by Cogninet Australia and the University of New England.

The project is looking at developing research-based models for data analytics using AI and Machine learning techniques in the domains of medical and educational data analytics. These models will assist and facilitate the medical professionals with machine learning modelling-based decision support tools for better patient support through diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring patient conditions. Further education analytics will help in improving learning & teaching and student engagement improvement in higher education settings.

Aim and Benefits of University of New England Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship

• The annual stipend value is $36,862 per annum (2025 rate) tax-free which is paid to the candidate in fortnightly instalments.
• The scholarship is tenable for three years and six months (3.5) full-time for a doctoral degree.
• The scholarship will also cover tuition fees and Single Overseas Health Cover for International candidates.

Requirements for University of New England Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

• This scholarship opportunity is open to both Domestic and International applicants.
• Candidates will need to apply and be offered admission into the degree prior to be eligible for a scholarship.
• Applicants should have a computer science background with sound Python programming skills. Students must also be available for industry partner engagements and an Internship as part of their studies.
