The Sixty-Ninth Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 69) will take place from March 10 to March 21, 2025, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. This prestigious event brings together global leaders, advocates, and changemakers to assess the progress made toward gender equality and the empowerment of women, as outlined in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the 23rd Special Session of the General Assembly.
The English language component of the Indigenous Fellowship Programme (IFP) was established in 1997. It takes place at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Switzerland and lasts for 4 weeks, usually coinciding with the annual meeting of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP). This prestigious event (CSW 69) brings together global leaders, advocates, and changemakers to assess the progress made toward gender equality and the empowerment of women.
To be eligible candidates must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status and must currently reside in Canada at the time of application and throughout the duration of the program/event. Individuals living abroad or those temporarily in Canada on non-immigrant visas (e.g., students, tourists) are not eligible.
Applicants must fall within the designated age range at the time of the CSW sessions (e.g., youth participants may be between the ages of 18 and 30).Applicants must demonstrate an active interest or involvement in issues related to gender equality, women’s rights, or the broader CSW themes.
The full session spans March 10–21. If you require a travel visa to attend CSW 69, please indicate this in your application. While we can assist with the process, including providing visa sponsorship where needed, all applicants should confirm their eligibility to travel to the United States. Please ensure that you meet any requirements for entry to the U.S. when applying.
