This scholarship supports students for study towards a research master’s degree at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.
Established in 1873 Canterbury College, as it was then known, was only the second university in Aotearoa New Zealand. It was set up on the Oxbridge model with one major difference: women students were admitted from the start. An early graduate, Helen Connon, became the first woman in the then British Empire to win honours. The scholarship is tenable during full-time or part-time enrolment in a course with a credit weighting in the range 90–120 points for a project comprising a single thesis, dissertation, research project, creative work, or performance towards a research master’s degree at the University. Enrolment must not have begun more than 6 months before or, if not already started, must not begin more than 6 months after the deadline date for applications.
