University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD fellowship with a special focus on artificial intelligence and functional data analysis commencing on June 1st 2021. 

The project will focus on a PhD project in biostatistics and data science. The PhD project aims at developing AI software that can provide clinically relevant predictions of different health outcomes based on data from ECG measurements. The data material consists of around 106 ECG signals measured on Danish citizens that must be associated to different clinical outcomes from Danish registry data. The ultimate goal is to develop an AI algorithm that for a given ECG measurement can deliver predicted risk probabilities for different health outcomes. The PhD candidate will be involved in the methodological development aimed at combining functional data analysis with modern methods of artificial intelligence and machine learning as well as the applied data analysis of the millions of ECG signals available.

Aim and Benefits of University of Copenhagen PhD Scholarship

Successful applicants will receive monthly salary begins around 27.593 DKK /approx. 3.679 EUR (April 2020-level) plus an employer paid pension contribution of 17.1%.

Requirements for University of Copenhagen PhD Scholarship Qualification

  • Applicants from all nationalities are eligible.
  • Applicants applying for the PhD scholarship will be a statistician with a strong background in mathematics and statistics.
  • Applicants should have the ability to communicate research findings in teaching, conference talks and by writing scientific papers for international journals. 
  • Applicants must not already be enrolled as a PhD student at the faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
