University of Edinburgh Surgery Online Patient Safety Scholarships 2026

There are a number of scholarships available which includes the cover of the full tuition fee. In this case, applicants must be national and resident in Africa, South Asia, Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands or Central and South America. Applicants need to be nationals and residents of an eligible country for the entirety of their studies. Applicants must inform the scholarship team in case they have moved to a different country immediately, because this might affect their eligibility for the scholarship.

There are also a number of bursaries, each worth £1500 annually, available to all applicants for the MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors. Students will be required to meet the cost of the balance of the annual tuition fees. Furthermore, the bursary award is credited towards the settlement of the fees and not paid directly to students.

Requirements for University of Edinburgh Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must:

• Be applying to the MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors programme.
• Have already been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so.  Preference will be given to those who have an unconditional offer at time of the scholarship application deadline.
• To be eligible for the fully-funded scholarship, applicants need to be nationals and residents of an eligible country (Africa, South Asia, Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands or Central and South America) for the entirety of their studies. Applicants must inform the scholarship team in case they have moved to a different country immediately, because this might affect their eligibility for the scholarship.
• Applicants must provide a letter of support.

Within the application form you will be asked to:

1) Include personal statements which addresses each of the following: 

• Provide a summary of your career objectives (100 words).
• Outline how undertaking this programme of study will benefit your career? (100 words).
• Outline how you envisage this programme enhancing your working practices to improve patient care in your country? (100 words).
• Describe a challenging situation in your studies or career so far and describe the strategies you used to overcome it (100 words)

2) Provide a Letter of support for your scholarship application from your local Educational/Training Supervisor or Director by sending it to [email protected] by the 29th May 2026.
