Awards of £3,000 or £5,000 (recurring) are being offered by the following departments:

• Engineering
• Finance and Accounting
• Geography
• Mathematics and Statistics
• Management
• Natural Sciences
• Physics and Astronomy

Health and Life Sciences

• Biosciences
• Clinical and Biomedical Sciences
• Health and Care professions
• Health and Community Sciences
• Psychology
• Public Health and Sports Sciences

Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

• Arab and Islamic Studies
• Archaeology and History
• Classics, Ancient History, Religion and Theology
• Communications, Drama and Film
• English and Creative Writing
• Humanities and Social Sciences, Cornwall
• Languages, Cultures and Visual Studies
• Law School
• Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy and Anthropology

All campus-based Undergraduate degrees in the above areas are eligible, except the following:

Ineligible Undergraduate programmes - All Flexible Combined Honours; BMBS Medicine; Law programmes delivered by the University of Law; Dual LLB/Juris Doctor (JD) with the Chinese University of Hong Kong; LLB Engineering and Law (HKUST); Graduate Law LLB; LLB Law: Brickfields Asia College; Simon Fraser University, Canada, double-degree partnership; Degree Apprenticeships.

Requirements for University of Exeter Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

You can apply for one of these scholarships if you:

• have International fee status (including any EU students required to pay International fees in 2026/27);
• already hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) to study an eligible Undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter, entering year one of that programme directly in September 2026.

Students progressing from University of Exeter International Study Centre (ISC) International Foundation are not eligible. 

(These scholarships are intended for self-funded students.)

Interview date, Process and Venue for University of Exeter Undergraduate Scholarship

Scholarship recipients are selected on:

• Academic merit, based on the information you have supplied in your UCAS application.  Applicants will be expected to demonstrate that they have achieved or are able to achieve the equivalent of GCE A level grades AAB. See our Entry Requirements pages for further guidance.
• The ability to demonstrate the following as part of the application process: academic and career ambition; a clear plan for making the most of the study opportunity; a sense of social responsibility and willingness to engage with the Exeter community.

A personal statement (of no more than 300 words) is required as part of the form, responding to the following questions:

1. What are your ambitions for the future and how will your studies at Exeter help you to achieve them?
2. What will you contribute to the study experience/environment on campus at Exeter?  
3. As a scholar, how might you act as an ambassador for the University?

Round 1 of this scholarship scheme closes on Thursday 12 February 2026. Eligible offer holders who apply by this date will be notified by email of the outcome of their scholarship application by the end of Thursday 12 March 2026. 

These Exeter Excellence 2026/27 Undergraduate scholarships are awarded as a reduction in the International tuition fee for each eligible year of study. They can be combined with a University of Exeter Undergraduate Scholarship 2026/27 for China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand or Turkey, subject to a maximum award value of £10,000 in any one eligible year of study.
